From Manila to Mainhattan: My EMBA journey

In terms of my career background, I trained as a medical doctor in Russia. For many years I was lecturing and training students and doctors in the Radiology department of a medical university. I had a lot of career satisfaction knowing I was teaching knowledge that would improve the quality of the diagnostics. Every year I had about 400 students for short-term courses and about 15 young doctors for an internship. I felt the value of my work every day. When GE Health approached me to work with them in 2015, I saw another opportunity to improve healthcare. My job as a Clinical Leader included elaboration and development of national programmes, for example breast cancer screening programmes for Commonwealth of Independent States (Russian Commonwealth) countries. I continued to train doctors, providing lectures and workshops in the GE Academy and national professional congresses. My work influenced a much bigger audience, sometimes the population of the whole cities of countries. My new role at GE allowed me to continue with the aspects of my education role that I love and also provided many new challenges.

The reason I chose the FS IHM MBA

I was searching for specific MBA course – not in general management or strategy, but in healthcare. It was really important for me to have a part-time course to continue my work in GE Healthcare. GE sponsors me to study the IHM MBA by providing leave time. My manager encouraged me to enroll in the programme. It was very important to have a really international programme – with the students from different countries, the experience of learning about the health systems in different countries and even different locations. I found everything in Frankfurt School with the IHM MBA – all my requirements and wishes were fulfilled.

Career Progress

Soon after starting my MBA at FS, I was promoted to Segment Leader, responsible for growth of DXR and surgery products range. I continue to train doctors, providing lectures and workshops in GE Academy and national professional congresses. After only one module in the IHM MBA I am already applying the theoretical content of the lectures. Often I catch an idea in my head: “Fortunately, I studied that in Frankfurt!” I need economics and financial skills in my new role and I am pleased that I am applying this knowledge immediately in my everyday work.

My best experience in the MBA up to now, was learning about different healthcare systems – I discovered very useful information, opening new perspectives in my work.
