Frankfurt School of Finance & Management has been accredited under the internationally recognised EQUIS quality seal by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). Valid for three years, the accreditation means that Frankfurt School is the fifth business school in Germany to be awarded this internationally recognised mark of excellence. To be eligible for EQUIS accreditation, business schools must comply with international quality standards across all their activities, as well as demonstrating a high level of international commitment. Ten key criteria – such as governance and strategy, ethics, sustainability, international development, executive education, corporate relationships – are used to evaluate institutions’ eligibility for accreditation.

The EQUIS accreditation is Frankfurt School’s second international quality award; in early May, the business school was also accredited by AACSB International and thus becomes one of only three business schools in Germany to be accredited by both EQUIS and ACCSB. “EQUIS accreditation is the ultimate acknowledgement of Frankfurt School’s successful development over the last few years – I am absolutely delighted by this achievement!” confirmed Professor Dr. h.c. Klaus-Peter Müller, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management Foundation and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Commerzbank AG. “EQUIS accreditation helps to underline the fact that our key strategic projects, such as the development of our research capabilities and international expansion, are all heading in the right direction.” “Internationally mobile students as well as companies who work with business schools to develop their most promising talent all have an interest in whether a business school is accredited, and if so, by whom,” explained Professor Dr. Udo Steffens, President of Frankfurt School. “This is where EQUIS plays an absolutely vital role, by helping us to attract top talent from all over the world to study at our business school. This both strengthens us and raises Frankfurt’s profile as a leading business centre.”

About EFMD and EQUIS

The European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) is a leading international membership network for companies, business schools and public services. The organisation has more than 800 members in 81 countries. All members share a common objective: to raise standards in management education and development. This is why EFMD has introduced the EQUIS and EPA accreditation programmes. EFMD also organises the Deans Across Frontiers Development Programme (EDAF), aimed at deans and senior managers of business schools around the world. EQUIS, an institutional accreditation standing for “EFMD Quality Improvement System”, was launched in 1997 with the aim of assessing the compliance of business schools, as well as Business Studies and Management Education faculties at universities, with top international standards. The EQUIS accreditation process provides business schools with plenty of support in developing their quality management systems. To date, 147 business schools in 40 countries are EQUIS-accredited, including five in Germany. For more details, visit here.
