Students gain specialised knowledge on the dynamics and the global aspects of strategic management through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.frankfurt-school.de\/en\/home\/programmes\/master\/management\/global-strategy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Global Strategy Concentration<\/a> in the Master in Management programme. The goal of the concentration is not only to provide general problem-solving skills but also to learn a range of different approaches to apply and connect strategy to other functional areas of the firm. Students will learn for instance to negotiate trade-offs involved in allocating resources to strategic initiatives, to manage the inherent uncertainty of strategic decision-making and to apply strategic foresight to anticipate competitive market dynamics.<\/p>\n<p>The offered modules of the Global Strategy concentration focus on key areas that provide competitive advantage to companies on a global arena:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strategy Execution<\/li>\n<li>Operations Strategy<\/li>\n<li>Corporate Strategy and Scaling<\/li>\n<li>Resource Allocation<\/li>\n<li>Corporate Finance and Governance<\/li>\n<li>Experiential Learning Module: Strategy Consulting Project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What to expect from each module<\/h2>\n<p>The <em>Strategy Execution <\/em>module analyses different sources of strategic advantages. Students apply and discuss tools and concepts for strategy execution, such as balanced scorecard, strategy map, product portfolio analysis, lean management\/decentralisation, strategic profitability analysis, performance measurement, value-based management, data analytics, and more. The course emphasises on the use of quantitative approaches (i.e.: calculations to improve decision-making and strategy-execution) and also includes several simulation games and case studies.<\/p>\n<p>How can firms maximise value by building and evaluating their operating system? The <em>Operations Strategy<\/em> course provides rigorous answers regarding how firms should tailor their operational competencies, assets, and processes to a specific business strategy. The topics include the historical sources of operations strategy, its link to other strategic decisions such as process design, global networks, strategic procurement, the integration of new technologies, environmental considerations, demand management, and answers the question of how to manage the implementation of a new strategic initiative.<\/p>\n<p>Within the <em>Corporate Strategy and Scaling<\/em> course students learn about firm growth and how business models can be scaled. It focuses specifically on the differences between traditional growth models and growth achievable through digital business models, platforms and so called \u201cZero Marginal Costs\u201d business models.\u00a0 It provides a unique blend of economic theory and practice, applying elements of recent theoretical advances to study the impact of new digital technologies and new business model designs on strategic analysis.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Resource Allocation<\/em> course covers probabilistic and behavioural aspects that underpin resource-allocation strategies. It focuses on how firms can apply strategic foresight to anticipate competitive market dynamics and how such analyses should affect resource allocation strategies. The course also discusses managerial heuristics than can be applied in highly uncertain environments in which traditional forecast approaches are limited.<\/p>\n<p>Corporate governance, corporate investment decisions, corporate financing, and payout policy \u00a0are the focus of the <em>Corporate Finance and Governance<\/em> module. Students will act as corporate decision-makers, applying analytical methods in real-life case studies. The course enables students to design corporate governance structures, make reflected investment and financial decisions, and evaluate those decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, the <em>Strategy Consulting Project<\/em> is an experiential learning module, based on company projects, case studies, and business challenges with specific strategic and organisational issues, so students can develop a clear set of recommendations.
