We organize weekly training sessions at pools in Frankfurt and aim to create a community that values both athletic dedication and teamwork. Our mission is to represent Frankfurt School at university-level competitions while fostering team spirit and student engagement through sport.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What are the WIUC?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Taking place from 12\u201316 November 2025 in Barcelona, the 10th \u00a0brought together student athletes from over 100 universities across 32 countries. The event featured a wide range of sports, from swimming and basketball to athletics and football, fostering international exchange and sportsmanship at the university level.<\/p>\n<p>For FS Swimming, it marked the team\u2019s first international appearance \u2014 an exciting opportunity to represent Frankfurt School on a global stage and compete alongside some of the world\u2019s most talented student athletes.<\/p>\n<p>A big thank you to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.frankfurt-school.de\/en\/about\/get-involved#for\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bankakademie e.V.<\/a> and Frankfurt School for making opportunities like this possible.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Wednesday \u2013 Arrival and Accreditation<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Our team arrived in Barcelona on Wednesday, greeted by a surprising 20\u00b0C in mid-November and bright sunshine. After settling in, we headed to the accreditation center to collect our badges and competition materials. Along with our accreditation, we received a goodie bag containing a bottle, towel, T-shirt, and many other useful items for the competition days.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-38582\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.frankfurt-school.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/FS-Swimming-2-2-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"380\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.frankfurt-school.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/FS-Swimming-2-2-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.frankfurt-school.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/FS-Swimming-2-2-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.frankfurt-school.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/FS-Swimming-2-2.jpg 1107w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 380px) 100vw, 380px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Thursday \u2013 First Day of Competition and Opening Ceremony<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Thursday marked the start of our first races at the World Inter University Championships. The morning session featured the 50m Freestyle, where Robin Schmutz delivered a strong performance, finishing 20th with an impressive time of 24.59 seconds. Julia Wameling achieved an outstanding 15th place with 28.50 seconds, establishing herself among the top swimmers of the field.<\/p>\n<p>In the 4x50m Freestyle Relay, our team\u2014Jonas Knost, Vivien Novy, Julia Wameling, and Robin Schmutz\u2014secured 14th place overall. Julia managed to improve her individual time significantly to 27.50 seconds, while Robin anchored the team with a remarkable final leg of 22.84 seconds, powering the relay to a strong finish.<br \/>\nJonas Knost followed behind and Vivien Novy took 39th place, with Carolina Kohlmann Garcia finishing 63rd. Each swimmer showed strong performances and set a promising tone for the rest of the competition.<\/p>\n<p>Between races, lunch was provided for all participating teams, offering the perfect opportunity to connect and exchange with students from universities all over the world.<\/p>\n<p>In the evening, the Opening Ceremony followed, featuring the parade of all delegations and a spectacular fireworks display to officially open the Championships.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-38580\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.frankfurt-school.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/FS-Swimming-4-1-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"374\" height=\"211\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.frankfurt-school.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/FS-Swimming-4-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.frankfurt-school.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/FS-Swimming-4-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.frankfurt-school.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/FS-Swimming-4-1.jpg 1822w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 374px) 100vw, 374px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Friday \u2013 Day Two of Swimming<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Friday brought even more racing action and strong performances from our team. The morning started with the 50m Butterfly, where Robin Schmutz came remarkably close to qualifying for the finals, finishing 12th with a time of 26.23 seconds. Julia Wameling also impressed with 32.82 seconds, followed closely by Carolina Kohlmann Garcia and Vivien Novy, both showing great consistency across their events.<\/p>\n<p>In the 50m Breaststroke, Robin Schmutz achieved another strong result, taking 15th place with 31.15 seconds. Vivien Novy swam to 25th place, and Carolina Kohlmann Garcia placed 41st, continuing the team\u2019s solid overall showing against a strong international field.<\/p>\n<p>The day concluded with the 200m Freestyle, where Jonas Knost represented FS Swimming in one of the event\u2019s longest sprint distances. He finished 38th with a time of 2:23.44 minutes, adding another strong effort to the team\u2019s tally. After the races, the team spent the afternoon exploring the Event and the City of Barcelona.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Saturday \u2013 Finals and Closing Ceremony<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Saturday marked the final day of the official Championships, featuring the basketball and football finals followed by the official Closing Ceremony. After four days full of swimming, cheering, and new impressions, everyone returned home tired but happy\u2014grateful for the experience and the memories made in Barcelona.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Looking Ahead<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The WIUC were an unforgettable experience for FS Swimming and a proud milestone for our young initiative. Next on our calendar are two exciting domestic events: the <u>Sprintnacht<\/u> in <u>Karlsruhe<\/u> and the <u>German University Championships (DHM) in Hannover<\/u>.
