Try this:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=rScTmpUW9iY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">one of the toughest European Obstacle Races<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 takes place in December when water is cold, snow is hard, and weather has no mercy!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Obstacle course racing<\/strong>\u00a0(OCR) is a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sport\">sport<\/a>\u00a0in which a competitor, traveling on foot, must overcome various physical challenges that are in the form of obstacles. Mud and trail runs are combined and the races are designed to result in mental and physical collapse.\u00a0Obstacles include, but are not limited to, climbing over walls, carrying heavy objects, traversing bodies of water, crawling under\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Barbed_wire\">barbed wire<\/a>, and jumping through fire. Many obstacles are similar to those used in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Military_education_and_training\">military training<\/a>, while others are unique to obstacle racing and are employed throughout the course to test\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Endurance\">endurance<\/a>, strength, speed and,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fine_motor_skill\">dexterity<\/a>. Races vary in both distance and challenge level, combining\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Trail_running\">trail running<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Road_running\">road running<\/a>, and cross country running.\u00a0With race venues typically in large cities, organizers encourage athletes of all types to participate.<\/p>\n<p>All Obstacles were introduced into Cross Country Running at Tough Guy\u00a0\u2014the final (30th) Tough Guy took place in January 2017! Check out a nice<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Szi4vr-iDnI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0TG Video<\/a>\u00a0 \u2014\u00a0Most signature obstacles were actually created by Mr Mouse\u00a0\u2014 the creator of the Tough Guy! According to the\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Los_Angeles_Times\">Los Angeles Times<\/a><\/em>\u00a0in 2012, the number of events\u2014typically all-day festivals\u2014rose rapidly. In accordance with the sub-culture&#8217;s fast rate of growth, the\u00a0<em>Obstacle Race Magazine<\/em>\u00a0was laun<br \/>\nched.<\/p>\n<p>From the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stadion_(running_race)\">stadion<\/a>, the oldest event of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Olympic_Games\">Olympic Games<\/a>, to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Contemporary_history\">contemporary<\/a>\u00a0era\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Steeplechase_(athletics)\">steeplechase<\/a>, obstacles of some sort have been presented to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Athletics_(sport)\">athletes<\/a>\u00a0for thousands of years. The concept of using obstacles for an endurance event is a contemporary phenomenon. It is widely thought that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tough_Guy_Competition\">Tough Guy<\/a>\u00a0is the oldest obstacle course race, with the first race in 1987. In 2011, approximately one million people registered to participate in obstacle racing events in the United States (US), 4.5 million in 2015\u00a0and by 2016 the number is estimated to be 5.6 million.<\/p>\n<p>Since obstacle course racing&#8217;s inception in 1987 there have many variations of courses created draw in a wide variety of athletes. There are sprint courses ranging from one mile to five miles. Then endurance courses that require an athlete to race a course anywhere from 24 miles to 100 miles. There are also events that are based on hours. For example, the 36 hour Agoge or the 24 hour World&#8217;s Toughest Mudder. The idea is to test a person&#8217;s mental and physical ability.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Spartan_race\">Spartan Race<\/a>\u00a0(check this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BW9_mEFvgfs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">video<\/a>)\u00a0founder\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Joe_De_Sena\">Joe Desena<\/a>\u00a0set a goal to take the sport to the Olympics\u00a0and tapped adventure racer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ian_Adamson_(adventure_racer)\">Ian Adamson<\/a>\u00a0for the task in 2014. In the summer of 2017 the application to add obstacle racing into the Olympics, under mixed team events in modern pentathlon, was rejected for the 2020 Olympics. In recent years, obstacle course racing has been emerging onto the college scene in the United States.
