On Monday morning, the Institute of Banking welcomed us to an international module of one-week full-time study with presentations/discussions about current financial themes as well as interdisciplinary fields in financial services in the headquarter building of Citi Bank in the financial district of Dublin. After the responsible persons gave us a warm welcome to Dublin, the lectures started immediately!
We had several lectures on financial topics such as the past financial crisis as well as the future of financial markets (e.g. BREXIT or FINTECH). The professors and lecturers did a great job explaining us their field of work in which they have been very successful. Their extensive theoretical knowledge and the practical experience gained from their daily work made the group discussions particularly instructive. On top, we had the chance to enhance our learning experience with several case studies and workshops. For me, the most exciting experience was the Theme Day on innovation in Banking and Financial Services along with the presentation about FINTECH and the workshop about innovations.
In addition to lectures, presentations and workshops at the Institute of Banking, we also had the chance to attend presentations and group discussions at important financial institutions such as the Central Bank of Ireland and the Deutsche Bank Ireland. For me personally, these presentations and discussions combined with the possibility to ask questions to the employees of the financial institutions have been challenging and enriching in every way.
Should you be wondering if we have been 
studying
24/7 then let me say the following: We have been to Dublin during the warmest week of the whole year! Thus, of course we took every opportunity to explore the beautiful and exciting Dublin during our spare time. On Monday, a double-decker bus picked us up at the Institute of Banking and toured us through the city. On Tuesday, we walked along the greens of Trinity College and on Wednesday, we enjoyed a tasty Guinness beer high above Dublin in the Guinness Storehouse Gravity Bar. Besides, we learned more about the Irish way of life while listening to a singer playing traditionally Irish songs on his guitar in one of the pubs in Temple Bar at our last evening in Dublin.
This week was definitely an eventful variety to our everyday work live!
