Before I started my studies at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, I successfully completed my apprenticeship as a qualified bank clerk. The apprenticeship confirmed my resolution to deepen my knowledge in Finance on an international level. Consequently, I decided to move to Frankfurt and to begin my studies in International Management at the Frankfurt School. My decision was based on the excellent reputation of the school’s academic staff as well as its broad Alumni network.
The basic study period was followed by two semesters abroad in Seoul and San Diego. During my advanced study period I focused on Economics and Finance. The valuable theoretical knowledge enabled me to complete an internship in the agency of syndicated loans at a large bank in Luxembourg. Hereby I acknowledged that capital requirements set by the EU are becoming increasingly strict for banks, having a strong beneficial impact on alternative lenders like Private Debt funds. At my last career fair at Frankfurt School I also passed the booth of Patrimonium Asset Management AG. The conversations with the employees of Patrimonium resulted in an application for an internship in their Privat Debt department.
After I had passed the phone interviews, I was invited to an assessment centre in Lausanne. During the interview process I met most of the Private Debt team members. I was offered a three-month internship which I gladly accepted. In a young and dynamic team, I took on responsibility for the investment process of our Co-Investor Fund together with Credit Suisse. The hands-on mentality was impressive to me. In a very short period, I received insights in numerous industries and technologies. The fast pacing environment is something I liked the most.
As the company is still evolving in the Private Debt market there are numerous products in our pipeline. At the end of my internship I had the chance to either start working full-time or to pursue my studies with a master’s degree in finance. In the end I gladly accepted the contract as a full-time Investment Analyst at Patrimonium. My decision was based on numerous factors. First, I believe in the market outlook for Private Debt in Europe and in the attractive products we offer to our investors. Second, Patrimonium is a dynamic company with a young team and flat hierarchies. Our new headquarter has an open office space and therefore Managing Directors, Directors, Associates, Analysts and Interns are sitting right next to each other. The exchange of knowledge, the simplified communication and the teamwork is outstanding in my opinion. Third, Switzerland offers one of the most attractive living standards. As we are based in Lausanne next to Lake Geneva, I started wakeboarding and wakesurfing in the summer. As the summer comes to an end now, I cannot wait for the ski season to begin. Finally, living in a new country with a new language to learn and a multi-cultural environment was also very appealing to me.
