In the near future, we can expect such systems to be able to carry out more and more tasks all by themselves. Apart from self-driving cars, it is likely that we will encounter autonomous machines in many places: in warehouses, hospitals, banks, and on the battlefield.

A changing global landscape: Three observations from the Raisina Dialogue in Delhi

The motto of this year’s Raisina Dialogue was “Provocation, Uncertainty, Turbulence – A Lighthouse in the Tempest?” Although the organisers wisely added a question mark, one thing is clear: India’s importance in the world will continue to rise, and with it, the significance of a dialogue such as the Raisina Dialogue.
Strategy and risk management are central to the role of a board of directors. They must take into account the changing nature of risks in order to adjust the adopted strategy. Risks of a political nature are one of several that need to be monitored.

What is a convertible note and how does it work?

A convertible note is a hybrid financial instrument for raising funds in the very early stages of a startup, typically when valuation is not set. It acts as a debt instrument until an agreed maturity period, after which it can be converted to equity. The funds raised by this method would help the startup to get the ball rolling by developing its product and acquiring the early adopters.
What can I know? What does it mean to know anything at all? Or more radically, could it be that I am just dreaming or trapped in ‘the Matrix’? Traditionally, philosophical epistemology has dealt with questions such as these primarily from the perspective of the individual. Social epistemology, in turn, puts the ‘social’ into knowing.

Limiting global warming to well below 2°C, as agreed under the Paris Agreement, will require substantial low-carbon investments. Next to typically discussed market frictions, such environmental and knowledge externalities, also market failures on financial markets are potential issues for these investments.
Behavioral economics, along with the subfield of behavioral finance, argues that many economic phenomena may be better understand when taking into account that humans sometimes behave less than fully rationally.
