As Frankfurt School has more than 40 student initiatives there’s no excuse not to get involved in Student Life. Whether you have interests in arts, sports or languages, there will always be something for you!

A Student Initiative is a space created by the students themselves and it is for that same reason that they are so important. They develop and create activities to promote and guide complementary aspects of our education. This diversity of activities is derived from the fact that students shape their student life at FS. They come up with new ideas, new topics and new trends, especially new students or students coming back from abroad. So, every year the student initiatives adapt and evolve with what’s going on worldwide. It brings them closer to what they are interested in and what new skills or knowledge should be addressed. This constant updating is necessary for the simple fact that we do not live the same issues as 5 years ago and neither the current issues will be the same in another 5 years. The world is changing so fast and the students at FS are adapting to it.

Why are they important? As mentioned above, the initiatives provide spaces to develop new skills or improve the existing ones. You really don’t have to be an expert to join. For example, suppose you are interested in programming but have never done it before; FS Coding offers courses for beginners. Or if you want to learn a new language from scratch, you can contact FS Tandem Partners and find a partner to exchange languages. The possibilities are unlimited; everything depends on your motivation and your schedule.

In these initiatives, you also get the chance to “network”; maybe a very common word for FS students, but really, meeting new people is always a very interesting and productive activity. Who knows? Maybe the next time you go to an initiative kickoff, you can meet a new friend for life or even a future business partner.

Student Initiatives have so much to offer. If you want to learn more about them or find contact details, just go on the Frankfurt School website, take a look and feel free to contact the initiatives if you have any questions, they’ll be more than happy to answer and welcome you into their activities.

On the other hand, if you do not find what you are looking for but you have a new, innovative, creative and interesting idea; if it’s something that hasn’t already been done, FS Student Life together with the Student Council would be more than delighted to receive you and guide you through the creation of a new Student Initiative. The process is simple and if your idea is clear and well argued, you could be contributing to the university in an active and unique way.

With the initiatives there is nothing to lose and much to gain, give yourself the opportunity to meet more people, meet your university and at the end of the day, contribute to a better student life.
