Frankfurt School Career Day – my journey from applicant to representative

RWE has reliably supplied people and companies with electricity for more than 120 years. Today, power generation is still carbon intensive. RWE is driving to change this fundamentally. Between 2012 and 2018, the company reduced its CO2 emissions by 60 million tonnes. This is a decline of around one third – the equivalent of the carbon dioxide emitted by 30 million cars per year. And that’s just the beginning. RWE will be carbon-neutral by 2040. The company will achieve that goal by withdrawing from fossil energy sources and becoming one of the world’s leading providers of renewable energy. Among others – this renewable energy will be traded by RWE Supply & Trading – one of the biggest trading houses in Europe. To make this change happen, we trust in the power of early talent programmes such as Graduate Programmes.

Part of the „RWE family“

I am Roberta Reschofsky, 22 years old, and since September I’m part of the Finance Trainee Programme at RWE. My first rotation is in the Controlling department of RWE Supply & Trading GmbH. With hindsight I can say that I was enthusiastic from the first day: such a positive working atmosphere, kind and helpful employees who each single has such an enthusiasm for the company RWE. Already during my internship I had the feeling of being part of the big RWE family as a “small” member. This feeling was confirmed three weeks ago when I started with the graduate programme. Everyone is friendly, open, helpful and  tireless to answer every question.

The first week of the programme was organized as an induction week with numerous events to get to know the company and the working procedures. Through such an incredible onboarding event  we got to know all trainees from different programmes and locations. We were brought together as a new group and additionally were able to integrate into the existing group of experienced trainees from previous years. Through such events and the positive working atmosphere in general, you have the opportunity to establish a network and bond with your colleagues even outside of the office.

You can decide on the focus of the programme

During the two years programme you will be in four different departments. Since you can choose your rotations yourself, it is possible to focus exactly on what you are interested, get to know different companies of RWE and their business models, be for a rotation abroad and work in an international environment. All of this grants you the possibility to shape your own professional development within RWE.
