Gehaltsverhandlungen gehören zu den wenigen Situationen im Berufsleben, in denen selbst erfahrene Professionals überraschend unsicher agieren. Der Grund liegt weniger in fehlender Sachkenntnis als in unbewussten Annahmen: der Sorge, als fordernd wahrgenommen zu werden, der Erwartung, Leistung müsse „für sich sprechen“, oder dem inneren Glaubenssatz, Loyalität werde automatisch honoriert. Diese Muster sind menschlich.

Mein Abschluss an der Frankfurt School liegt rund ein Jahrzehnt zurück. Seitdem habe ich im Investmentbanking gearbeitet, mehrere Stationen in der M&A-Beratung durchlaufen und vor einigen Jahren meine eigene M&A-Beratung gegründet. Heute begleite ich mittelständische Unternehmer beim Verkauf ihrer Lebenswerke.

Being selected for HCONF 2026, held on 6–8 February, whilst working as a Risk Advisory Consultant at Deloitte in Frankfurt, was one of the highlights of my early career. Flying from Frankfurt, landing in Boston, and walking onto Harvard’s campus for the first time was surreal. I had to stop and absorb it. Three days there turned out to be more than I had imagined.

From Building Systems to Building Judgment: What Frankfurt School changed for me

I’ve always been an engineer at heart. Not just by education, but by instinct. I look for structure. I want to understand what holds a system together, where it breaks under stress and what needs to change so it becomes stable again. Early in my career I believed - quite honestly - that the hardest part of progress would be technology.

Enrolling in the Master of Leadership in Sustainable Finance at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management has been one of the most valuable experiences of my career. It challenged me academically, inspired me personally, and gave me tools I can apply every day in my professional life.
