Semester Opening & Executive Talk at ECB

After a nice and long winter break, the semester opening ceremony on Monday, 3 February 2020 at the European Central Bank (ECB) was the best way to be welcomed back to Frankfurt. During the evening at the beautiful building on Sonnemannstraße we had a very interesting talk from Gabriel Glöckler, Principal Adviser of the ECB’s Directorate General Communications.

Embarking on a Master's in Applied Data Science at Frankfurt School has been a transformative journey, intertwining rigorous academic work with real-world professional experience. It has been a journey of growth, learning and self-discovery. It’s a challenging yet rewarding path that has taught me the importance of resilience, time management and strategic planning.
With the constant ping-pong of thoughts and the unending delay in getting my visa stamped, I took a leap of faith in the precarious situation, which led me to pursue my passion for Data Science at Frankfurt School with the Master in Applied Data Science programme.

A huge advantage of the programme was that it enabled me to continue working while pursuing a master’s degree thanks to the 3-day-model. In my new position, I'm able to make use of the knowledge I gained during my studies.
I knew it was time to pursue another degree, one that gave me a diverse set of skills and led to various interesting career prospects. I felt the Master in Applied Data Science programme at FS would give me just that.

In our work, we propose a machine-learning-based control framework able to learn quasi-optimal control signals and steer complex high-dimensional dynamical systems towards a desired target state.

Cooperation Company Project – dive into the future

For three months we had the opportunity to work for Moody’s Analytics within an FS company cooporation project. The project goal was to build a domain-specific translation from Chinese to English for accounting terms.
While I’m writing down this blog, it has been one year since I started my journey in Master in Applied Data Science (MADS) program at Frankfurt School. Looking back, I feel fortunate and grateful that I made the decision to join the MADS program.

The data revolution is already well underway and employers have a lack of skilled data science professionals with the business knowledge to match. We’re ready to teach you in a hands-on programme all you need to know in terms of the life cycle of a business understanding data, big data, data science ethics, machine learning and much more!
At 5:10, or earlier if I am too eager to wait for the alarm clock to sound, my day begins. In the one and a half hour commute that takes me to Frankfurt, I review the contents of the previous quantitative fundamentals lecture and sharpen my coding skills by solving exercises from the Algorithm and Data Structure Class. At around 7:20 I see the first rays of sun reflected in the glass of the Frankfurt Skyline, welcoming me to a demanding but equally rewarding journey.
