Learning by doing: How FS and PwC prepare me for my future in digital business

My name is Riccardo Silvestri and I will be a FS student in the Master in Management, starting from next semester. I am a Bachelor graduate in Economics from the University of Padova, in Italy. After my graduation in July 2017, throughout this last year, I have been working at Emma, a German tech startup, as Project Manager of the Italian market.

Why did you apply to FS and what stood out?

I applied to FS for four main reasons:

1. FS can offer a stimulating international environment in which I can create strong networks and put the basis for a successful future career.

2. FS is open to give substantial financial aid when deserving incoming students need a support to be part of the program. FS likes to invest in talents who can improve the school’s worldwide image in the future. To me, this highlights how FS still wants to grow and develop its notoriety, to become one of the most recognized universities in Europe.

3. The 3-day model program is extremely interesting and rarely offered in other universities. Most of the time, students only focus on the studies, although it is crucial to gain real work experience. Summer internships are always a good option, though it wouldn’t be enough to get a comprehensive experience. Therefore, offering the possibility to work throughout the whole master’s program is extremely useful and it caught my interest. Also, it is a good opportunity to earn a salary and bear the tuition fee.

4. Last but not least, I love Frankfurt!

Tips for the admissions process

First, the written test is pretty similar to the renowned GMAT test, with few differences in content though. Therefore, some training is absolutely necessary to help your mind think faster and prioritize questions and cases wisely to allocate the given time correctly. Moreover, I would highly suggest to forget about solving all the queries in a rush, risking to do many mistakes. It is very hard to complete a whole section of questions in the given time, so just give up on making it to the end smoothly, but rather focus on answering every question you approach correctly.

What I’m most looking forward to

I am looking forward to meeting  ambitious and smart students, as well as actively taking part in the exciting lifestyle of a FS student. I am expecting the FS to give me the opportunity to enlarge my network and help me meet the international business reality, supporting me throughout the whole program to be prepared for a successful future.
