My journey towards the MBA in International Healthcare Management
Pursuing my Full-time MBA with determination

During the journey of the MBA in International Healthcare Management at Frankfurt School, 10 modules must be completed successfully. One of the 10 modules of the MBA, which must be completed successfully to graduate, is the Master-Thesis. It is one of the most time-consuming and challenging modules during the MBA. So, I thought the best way would be to choose a topic, which would also be beneficial for my career.

Five months are scheduled for this project, but courses and day-to-day work in parallel force you to choose the most convenient topic. You can be creative with your topic or develop one from the proposal list, but it must be validated by the examination board.

New job while doing my MBA

To increase the MBA challenge, when the Master-Thesis works started, I also started my new job. I moved from a medical device company focused on bone regeneration to a company working in IVD, specialising in autoimmune and allergy diagnostic. In my new role, I am in charge of Business Development (mostly international) and implementing an improved go-to-market strategy.

Selecting the topic for my MBA thesis

To get the most out of the thesis exercise, I decided to choose a topic, which will support me in my new role. One major aspect at the beginning was for me to understand the IVD industry and to identify which new technologies and trends will shape it in the future. Taking all this into consideration, I decided to write my master thesis on the following topic: “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Healthcare. Upcoming Business Models, especially in the In-vitro Diagnostic Industry”.

Developing my understanding of the topic helped me, not only, to dive into the IVD industry, but also to get practical knowledge and critical analysis on how AI, which disrupts the industry, like any other sector, can be a springboard to gain new markets. Thereby, the thesis is just one example, which shows how you can combine the MBA programme in International Healthcare Management with your career.

There are unlimited possibilities to use the newly acquired knowledge to push your career, find your calling or create your own business. Another particularly good opportunity is also the module “Business Plan” in the middle of the programme. It helps you bring together different courses to build the ultimate “winning proposal”.

One main takeaway for me is that the MBA courses are designed in such a way that it can be applied directly to your daily business and can also support your career!
