Many startups fail because they focus too much on creating a product that seems profitable instead of first identifying whether a real problem exists. We’ve seen this happen a lot: founders build an app, promote it with fancy keywords like “AI-powered” and “revolutionary”, and then ultimately fail because people don’t need the app in the first place. To ensure your startup's success, you must prioritise identifying a significant problem to solve. Here are some concepts that could help you with this.

Yumoso embarked on a mission to create the world's first pre-assembled solar carport, addressing the growing need for large solar surfaces in the ongoing energy transition. Recognising untapped potential, our team identified parking areas, rooftops and open spaces as valuable sources of photovoltaic (PV) energy to pursue a greener future.
Embarking on a Master's in Applied Data Science at Frankfurt School has been a transformative journey, intertwining rigorous academic work with real-world professional experience. It has been a journey of growth, learning and self-discovery. It’s a challenging yet rewarding path that has taught me the importance of resilience, time management and strategic planning.

Sustain Challenge 2023: Invest goes Green

Over the past month we had the honour to participate in the “Sustain Challenge of Talents of Tomorrow”, organised by EintrachtTech and the Tomorrow University of Applied Sciences. Our team was asked to develop a “Green Rewards Programme” for the Deutsche Bank App that motivates users to adopt sustainable banking practices.
A cap table, or capitalisation table, is a spreadsheet that details the equity ownership in a startup. Understanding a startup’s cap table is not just essential for startup founders but also very important for investors, employees and other stakeholders. Despite its significance, it is surprising how many early-stage startups tend to mess this up, leading to potential complications.

What is a convertible note and how does it work?

A convertible note is a hybrid financial instrument for raising funds in the very early stages of a startup, typically when valuation is not set. It acts as a debt instrument until an agreed maturity period, after which it can be converted to equity. The funds raised by this method would help the startup to get the ball rolling by developing its product and acquiring the early adopters.

Während wir jeweils auf das Ende unserer Studienabschlüsse zusteuerten, haben wir uns parallel darum bemüht, die notwendigen Strukturen zu schaffen, um schnellstmöglich zu starten. Das beinhaltete einerseits die Gründung unserer Gesellschaft in der ich mich häufig an die Unternehmensrechtsvorlesungen an der FS zurückerinnerte.
Unser Kernteam hat sich 2019 im Rahmen unseres Studiums kennengelernt. Bereits im ersten Semester konnten wir als Teil des Curriculums erste Erfahrungen im Programmieren sammeln. Der Familienhandwerksbetrieb eines unserer Co-Founder, war zu diesem Zeitpunkt auf der Suche nach einer geeigneten und simplen Software zur Abbildung der Unternehmensprozesse. Die Suche war jedoch ohne Erfolg und so entschieden wir, anhand unserer Expertise aus Betriebswirtschaft und Baugewerbe das Thema selbst in die Hand zu nehmen.
