There are only a few short weeks to go now until the biggest recruitment fair of the year is back and we have 40 great companies here on campus ready to talk to you. Each company will be sending a team of representatives ready to answer your questions and present their companies but if you want to take full advantage of this opportunity you need to be well prepared. So here are a few simple steps to get you ready:
1. Find out about the Companies!
Have a look at the list of companies, visit their websites and find out what they have to offer you. Pay particular attention to existing internship and employment opportunities and specific graduate programmes. Take note of the departments they have and in particular the locations they are based at. And write it down systematically! Don’t expect to be able to remember everything important on the day.
2. Prepare your Elevator Pitch in German and English
You should have already heard about elevator pitches, and if not, try Google or come and talk to us. Your elevator pitch should be a 2-3 minute introduction explaining who you are and what you are interested in. And bear in mind, the same elevator pitch may not be suitable for all companies. You may want to vary it depending on the information you have about the company. And have a trial run with a friend or an advisor!
3. Have intelligent questions ready
Make sure that you have questions written down ready for your targeted companies. These should be company specific and shouldn’t be things that are readily available on their website.
4. Appearance
Pay attention to your appearance. You should be treating the event as you would an interview so come dressed in business attire. It is important to create the best possible impress both for yourself and for Frankfurt School.
5. What to bring
Bring your notes and questions, bring a note book to write down information and bring business cards. Don’t bring CVs, the company representatives won’t be in a position to handle CVs and prefer the formal application process to be handled online.
And last of all, Good Luck!
