Beyond adaptation: Addressing loss and damage in the face of climate change

"Loss and Damage" refers to the adverse impacts of climate change that surpass the ability of countries and communities to adapt or that occur despite adaptation efforts. It has gained prominence in the climate change debate because it is becoming increasingly clear that mitigation and adaptation alone will not be enough to address the impacts of climate change.
Power-to-X (PtX) is a term used to describe a variety of technologies that convert surplus electricity from renewable energy sources into other forms of energy, such as green hydrogen, ammonia, or synthetic fuels. The ramp-up of a global PtX industry can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change while creating new jobs.

The intricate mass transit system that allows you to experience all of these in one day.
Earth Day is a day that reminds each one of us of our duty to protect the planet and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come. It is a day that serves as a call to action to rethink our relationship with the environment and take steps towards a more sustainable and fairer world. But it should not be a reminder only every 22 April, but daily.

In our chapter, we provide a historical look-back on the fast regulatory developments in Europe, inter alia Germany and make several suggestions on how financial institutions could prepare themselves for the upcoming challenges and opportunities. A new experience: completing my first e-learning course

As a project manager for the climate finance related e-Learning courses from FS-UNEP I am used to being on “the other side” of these exams, preparing questions and checking formulations with our experts. At several occasions I also supervised final exams, answering questions from participants about the exam rules; no laptops allowed, please put your mobile phone away, yes - even if it is turned-off, and call out “5 minutes left” for all to know.

Life wisdom I learnt from research conferences

When I started counting, I realised that I had been at more than 30 research conferences and workshops in the past 3 years. The sheer number of times that I was out there in front of an audience astonished even me. I was there as a listener, a comment provider, frequently a speaker and sometimes even a session chairperson.
It is evident that climate change, sustainability and ESG criteria (Environmental, Social and Governance) have become trending topics across countries, sectors, industries and even political parties, given that societal perceptions and consumer demands for better accountability have changed.
