As a Full-Time MBA student hailing from Ghana, I have been fortunate enough to be able to study at Frankfurt School, an educational institution that offers a comprehensive and global perspective on business and leadership. My journey thus far has been both a challenging and rewarding one, providing me with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the ever-changing business landscape of today.
Before enrolling at Frankfurt School, I had the opportunity to participate in various pre-admission touchpoints, each of which had a significant impact on my thinking and skillset. The trial MBA workshop titled “Mastering Negotiation Skills” was one such touchpoint and it was an opportunity I was able to attend at no cost. At the time, I had recently transitioned into a new incremental role that required me to be able to efficiently manage relationships with senior business leaders. As such, the workshop was highly relevant to my career and it exceeded my expectations in every way. The experienced facilitator provided exceptional content and the breakout sessions were an opportunity to connect with classmates from diverse and exciting professional and personal backgrounds. I reflect on this experience with the utmost confidence that I had finally found the perfect fit for my professional development needs.
Cultural immersion has been a highlight of my experience at Frankfurt School. Studying with brilliant and experienced students from all over the world has allowed me to broaden my cultural horizons and gain a deeper understanding of different perspectives and ways of working. This has been especially valuable in a world where cross-cultural communication and leadership are increasingly vital.
Living and learning in Germany has also been a unique experience. The country’s strong economy, excellent infrastructure and efficient systems make it a hub for business and innovation. At the same time, its rich cultural heritage and diverse society have a long history of welcoming international students and visitors. This blend of business and culture has provided me with a genuinely enriching experience and expanded my understanding of what it takes to be a global leader.
Frankfurt School is committed to preparing students for the professional world, evident in the curriculum, faculty and extracurricular activities available to students. The school’s focus on practical, hands-on learning has been invaluable, allowing me to apply what I have learned in the classroom to real-world business challenges. The school’s dedication to developing well-rounded leaders is evident in the numerous extracurricular activities available, such as the entrepreneurship club, music club and Toastmasters.
Finally, I must mention the language and way of life in Germany. As an English speaker, I had prepared myself mentally for the possible shocks of living, studying and working in a country where the official language is German. However, I have been pleasantly surprised by the widespread use of English in the business world and the availability of language courses at the school. The saying “prepare for the worst, hope for the best” was a rewarding inspiration after all. The efficiency, organisation and safety of the German way of life have also made it an excellent place to live and study.
In conclusion, my journey as an MBA student from Ghana at Frankfurt School has been life-changing. The cultural immersion, the opportunity to study with talented individuals from around the world and the focus on practical, hands-on learning have provided me with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in today’s global business environment. I am grateful for this experience and look forward to using what I have learned to make a positive impact in the world of business.
